About Shoppe & Tailor Studios
Queer woman owned and operated, Shoppe & Tailor Studios maintains a safer space for all.
Founded in 2014, Shoppe & Tailor’s core ethos is to offer possibilities. We encourage the growth of local fashion & artistry, and foster learning the sustainable skilled trade of sewing-for-yourself.
We’re here for the community. We provide you with the creative playground—the space and equipment to create anything you can dream up. Come for the inspirational learning—stay for the vibes.
As an alternative to contemporary society’s disposable fashion practices, we teach workshops on how to mend, alter and upcycle your existing clothes to fit any body.
Our studio always encourages low-waste practices, from our textile sorting scrap bins & scrap paper to our communal thread wall & supply swap events.

What about studio rentals?
It saddens me to share that our studio rental services are no longer available.
In July 2024, when we decided not to renew the old lease we decided to hunt for a new location. In the midst of this transition we proposed to our full time membership holders the possibility of creating a collective instead of the existing “landlord” structure. To our excited surprise EVERYONE wanted in!
October 1st 2024 marked day #1 of our Studio Collective at 163 Sterling Rd, Unit #167. There are 8 businesses in total- all of whom came from the Shoppe and Tailor Studios community ready to expand their businesses!
Needless to say, the space is…. full. Full of beautiful work and everyone’s expanding inventories and supplies. It’s an extraordinary sight that brings me great pleasure!
With our shift into a collective studio structure, the opportunity to rent out studio access on a small scale has become unavailable.
We will however continue to host community sewing nights and special events! Pease stay tuned for upcoming social events both in the studio and off site!!
